As the season draws to a close, are you carrying out maintenance at your Bowling Club?

No doubt you will want to use the down time to ensure your Bowling Club is set up ready for the start of next season.

One area of the greens which is under constant wear and tear from the unpredictable and varied British weather is the ditches and their liners.

Ditch liners play an important role in both protecting the woods and jacks from surface damage and stopping them moving from where they drop into the gutter.

Bowls Ditch Liners

As a British manufacturer of rubber and polyurethane products, we have developed an innovative rubber Ditch Liner system, which is now installed in hundreds of Clubs worldwide.

Meeting the criteria and regulations set by the bowls governing bodies, the Ditch Liner System has soft rubber spikes which protect the woods and jacks which drop into the ditch and stop them from moving.

The Ditch Liners are manufactured at Clifton Rubber’s factory in the UK from a high-quality rubber, which is extremely durable in the outside environment.

The product is maintenance free and very cost effective compared to similar products.  They come in one metre sections and the width is suitable for standard bowling club ditches of 200mm – 300mm in width.

Andrew Meddings, Sales Executive at Clifton Rubber said:

“There are several types of ditch liner available on the market.  These range in quality from simple rubber chippings to the specially moulded mats that we provide.  Unfortunately, some liners can deteriorate rapidly, especially cheaper imported versions.  It’s important to invest in a quality product rather than risk a false economy with a cheaper alternative.”

Sawtry Bowling Club commented:

“We’d tried various methods of lining our ditches in the past, but they were poor quality and didn’t last long.  Having seen what Huntingdon Indoor Bowls Club were using we contacted Clifton Rubber straight away.   We’ve now had their Ditch Liners in place for over 3 years and they are excellent quality, protect the bowls and are definitely worth the investment.”

The Marchmount Bowling Club commented:

The main function of a Ditch Liner should be to hold the Jack in place and protect it, along with any Bowls that roll into it.  The Clifton Rubber Ditch Liners are ideal for this job.

I’ve played indoor bowls and seen the Ditch Liners there. We did a bit of investigative work to see what products were out there on the market.  We read the reviews and got a very competitive quote, so we decided to invest.”
